This chimpanzee retirement sanctuary is on 200 acres of forested land. It’s the first chimpanzee sanctuary in the U.S. for retired federal laboratory chimps that is funded by a public/private partnership. This outdoor habitat includes two 40,000 square foot residential concrete H-shaped structures, indoor caging, outdoor runs, introduction yards, kitchen, cold room, vet procedure suite, toilets, showers, laundry, break room, storage and an administrative area.

The project includes design of the structural system for a threestory courthouse building. The structure is composed of cast-inplace wide module one-way concrete joist construction with the foundation and columns designed for the addition of a future floor.

The project is a five-story addition to the current courthouse. The structural system is composed of structural steel columns and composite concrete/steel girders and floor beams. The lateral load resisting system is composed of concentrically braced frames. The foundation is composed of augered cast-in-place concrete piles. The police jury assembly room required a plate girder transfer girder to
carry upper story columns.

Design and construction inspection of concrete access road and parking lot. The project includes a 141,000 square foot aircraft maintenance hangar, a 180,000 square foot concrete aircraft parking apron, a 3,600 square foot concrete roadway, and associated drainage and sitework.

This is one of the hilliest areas in the state and a line and grades study was required to set the new alignment. Two additional lanes with a median to create a four lane divided highway were added. The existing roadway remained in place with the new roadway added to the west. Responsibilities include topographic and property surveys, right-of-way maps, drainage design, preliminary roadway plans and final roadway plans.

Preliminary and final plans for this four lane highway from the Sabine Parish Line to South Mansfield were prepared. The design required that portions of the existing two lane highway was to remain in place adding two lanes with a median. Responsibilities include topographic and property surveys, right-of-way maps, drainage design, preliminary roadway plans and final roadway plans.
 
Benton Road Railroad Overpass, Bossier City, LA

Engineering design for the installation of roadway lighting along approaches and overpass at LA Highway 3 and Benton Road Spur. The design includes substantial reconfiguration of the roadway system to accommodate the growth of Bossier City.

Award: LMA Community Achievement Award in the Community Development Category for municipalities with a population of 25,001 and over.

The project includes topographic survey, preliminary and final roadway plans and drainage design for Bastrop Log Cabin, which was originally designed as a five lane urban section for one mile with a four lane divided rural section for the remaining three miles. Because of the cost associated with right-of-way acquisition, a new typical section has been used to best fit the five lane modified suburban section. This cost was reduced by an estimated $5 million.
